finally coming to life.

Composed casually in 1989. Completed in 1991 as a band instrumental. It was originally a rock ballad with the main melody played on guitar, but in 1994 it transformed into a piano solo instrumental. It feels like the origin of MIAN’s life as a composer. The song was once picked up by my beloved “ROMANDO ROLL” (a renowned French roll shop) and released with lyrics under the name “First Chocolate.” Wanting to reissue it once again as “Hatsukoi,” I received permission from Fumiyasu Hasebe, representative of ROMANDO ROLL. Do you know French rolls? A cake you can eat holding it in your hand. It is, quite simply, the most delicious in the world.

Did this first love ever come true, I wonder?

The theme song for Kurume tonkotsu ramen Tonpachi. Its owner trained at “Tonpa~re” in Minamichita — a famous shop where Harley riders gather — and opened in Kokobutsume, Midori Ward, Nagoya. A wonderful ramen shop full of love and passion, one that saved our lives. To its rock ’n’ roll owner, we send our feelings through rock. A bowl made with soul, answered with a song made with soul. Composed in 1995, this song personifies global environmental issues. Back then it was a rock number over seven minutes long, with wild fretless bass and impossible chord progressions. In 2026, Kazuhide reworked it into a shorter, contemporary version (4:13). Sung entirely in Japanese. It starts out gentle, something happens midway, and it explodes in the chorus. The first-ever release, “You Are The MOON,” was recorded in 2023. A medium-tempo ballad — rare for Light-Up Enterprise — and a surprisingly sweet birthday song, sung entirely in English. Unusually, MIAN handled everything himself: lyrics, music, and performance. It is built only from folk guitar, electric guitar, and electric bass. The long tones in the chorus are a highlight. A happy song.
